Biography

Mr. Sonnenklar is a Partner of the Firm and the Co-Chair of the Firm’s corporate, transactional and healthcare practice groups. He joined the Firm in 2005, after practicing in the health law departments of several large, nationally recognized law firms. He possesses more than 20 years of transactional, corporate and regulatory experience representing healthcare businesses, physicians and other professionals, group practices, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic and treatment centers and other healthcare facilities, management service organizations, and other commercial and not-for-profit organizations rendering healthcare and health-related services. Mr. Sonnenklar assists clients with respect to a broad range of complex business matters and federal and state regulatory issues, including the purchase and sale of healthcare facilities, physician practices and other businesses, the structuring of physician-hospital relationships, physician practice transactions, the development and structuring of joint ventures and other business relationships, the preparation and negotiation of shareholders agreements and operating agreements, corporate formation and organization, employment agreements, dispute resolution and settlement agreements, HIPAA compliance, certificate of need applications, and compliance with Stark, anti-kickback, anti-markup, fraud and abuse and fee-splitting prohibitions. Mr. Sonnenklar is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, and the Nassau County Bar Association. He is admitted to both the New York and Florida Bars. Mr. Sonnenklar graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (B.A.) in 1990 and Boston University School of Law (J.D.) in 1993, where he earned recognition as a Paul J. Liacos Scholar.
